The Home Office

Welcome to “The Home Office”! We will cover the business of NWA President, Bruce Tharpe, the NWA champions and the stars that have represented the NWA all over the world in the past.

Let’s start with a little reason to celebrate. The NWA announced their return to the Pacific Northwest. President, Bruce Tharpe appeared proud to announce on Twitter the expansion of the Alliance. “As of 9:30 am Blue Collar Wrestling has officially become the newest member of the oldest governing body for professional The National Wrestling Alliance. BCW is now known as NWA BLUE COLLAR WRESTLING. Bringing back the tradition of top notch northwest wrestling that brought you stars such as The Grappler, Roddy Piper, Playboy Buddy Rose and guys like the legendary Nature Boy Ric Flair. We look forward to continuing to produce the quality of talent that this great territory has to offer. More news to come.” Blue Collar Wrestling has almost 200 videos on YouTube. The NWA announced, “The latest edition of “NWA Ringside” will be released this weekend and on that program we announce the opponent for JUSHIN “THUNDER” LIGER in Las Vegas! Former NWA World Tag Team Champion, “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and Smoky Mountain Wrestling’s Tony Givens are featured. Take a listen!

NWA President, Bruce Tharpe, never afraid to make a challege, earlier this week stated, “Hell – I might even dust off the tights and wrestle Liger MYSELF at CAC in Vegas!” Tharpe was a luchadore at one time, but that was a long time ago. And if that’s not enough to keep him busy, he also laid down a challenge for former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Conway to NJPW Intercontinental Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. “Shinsuke! Rob Conway challenges you to a match to prove who is the best!” This was after he had stated on Twitter, “remember – I will SLAP the taste of Korean BBQ out of @ShinsukeN’s mouth!” Conway also got involved in the smack talk making fun of the Intercontinental champion’s fashion choices.
If Mr. Tharpe doesn’t have enough enemies in Japan he tweeted, “Yum Yum would destroy OKADA!” AND “Maybe TENZAN is ready to move to Texas and leave that raw fish behind!”
Don’t forget part 2 of Bruce Tharpe’s exclusive Sunday Segue interview will be live at 7 Eastern time. Listen to Part 1 right here: https://t.co/Es8pgtWuJg

Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Kojima challenged his former NWA World Tag Team Champions partner and current NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Tenzan for the title. Tenzan had attacked Kojima with the belt in a recent NJPW multi man tag match. The match took place at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s “Road to Invasion Attack 2015”, on March 21st, 2015 at Nagoya International Conference Hall, Event Hall in Aichi. Tenzan retained the title in 17 minutes winning with a moonsault. It was his first title defense and the former partners showed respect for each other with a handshake after the match.

Saturday, March 21st Metroplex Wrestling was in Bedford, Texas featuring NWA World Tag Team Champion, “The American Psycho” Lance Hoyt. Also on the card was Inspire Pro top contender “Bionic Beast” Franco D’Angelo. Hoyt and his partner, Davey Boy Smith Jr. are very vocal on social media and are confident in their position as the best tag team in the world. The Killer Elite Squad stated, “The Killer Elite Squad conquer everywhere they go. The NWA – conquered. New Japan – conquered. Pro Wrestling Noah – conquered. What promotion has the guts to step up and bring in KES? CMLL Mexico? AAA Mexico? Ring Of Honor? Lucha Underground? We Kill Em All!” No one is safe! “KES vs Bullet Club? Take my money! BOOM!” Just in case anyone doubts what KES believes they can do they tweeted that. And this, “Killer Elite Squad we #KillEmAll #CollectEmAll Bring on another Championship for us to win. @DBSmithjr @LanceHoyt http://t.co/ag9MOjwR5q” The world champs have no lack of confidence! The champs tweeted, “Back in Japan. Ready to get CRAZY! 3/15. @noah_ghc http://t.co/fqj9RUkJtl” They retained their GHC Tag Titles in their return to NOAH. Plus, they have the rest of Suzukigun and bragged about it on Twitter. “The Killer Elite Squads GHC Tag Team Championships have some new company now in Suzuki Gun. They have complete control of Noah Pro Wrestling:
Minoru Suzuki – GHC Heavyweight Champion
Killer Elite Squad – GHC Tag Team Champions
Taichi- GHC Jr Heavyweight Champion
El Desperado and Taka Michinoku – GHC Jr Tag Team Champions”. How good are KES? Indy Power Rankings had them at #3 this week and had this to say about the champs, “Killer Elite Squad (Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr.)-The GHC Tag Team Champions got a lot of respect this week as they beat last week’s #5 in TMDK on 3/15 to retain the titles. HUGE victory for one of the best tag teams going today. They have won 3 straight matches and 8 of their last 9 matches. It’s been a solid start to 2015 for this tag team who have been tearing it up from one side of the world to the other. NOAH featured representation in both the Indy Power Rankings AND the Tag Team Top 5 this week. We’ve talked about Dragon Gate’s dominance of the rankings this year, but you can’t overlook what NOAH has done either.” Read all the tag team rankings at

Still not convinced she is the best? How about this? “Santana Garrett (@BrittanyTNA)-No woman has dominated the Indy Power Rankings since the beginning of the rankings all the way up to now. Santana is the current NWA Women’s Champion and a former Indy Power Rankings People’s Champ. She didn’t need the support from the fans after going 4-0 last week. Shedefeated Tammy Lynn at I Believe in Wrestling on 3/13 to retain the title, then she beat Lena Taylor & Codie Lane in a triple threat at CWE the same day to retain the title, then beat Ashley Mayberry at I Believe in Wrestling on 3/14 to retain the title yet again, and then beat Andrea the Giant at NWA Signature Pro on 3/15 to wrap up the weekend. Catch her on the Tag Team Top 5 Reveal on 3/25 at 3 PM EST on Elite Podcast Network!” That’s what Indy Power Rankings said when she was ranked number 2, this week beating out IWGP Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles (who will be in Smoky Mountain Wrestling in May) and GHC Heavyweight Champion, Suzuki (the leader of Suzukigun, the faction NWA World Tag Team Champions, KES is part of in NJPW and NOAH)! Former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, “The Crown Jewel” Chase Owens shared a title defence he made in Canada with us. He stated the video was from, “This week’s TV of CWE, where I defended the NWA World Junior Title against Jason Kincaid , Mentallo and Sonjay Dutt.”

Indy Power Rankings included the best pound for pound wrestler in the world today, Chase Owens in their weekly rankings of the best independent wrestlers in the world. The Illuminati member was #5 last week. They had this to say about the former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, Chase Owens. “(@nwachaseowens)-The former NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion jumps back into the Indy Power Rankings Top 10 in a big way after he defeated Corey Hollis at CW on 3/7, then beat Timmy Lou Rhettonon 3/8, and then finally beat Lou Marconi at CWS on 3/8 to go 3-0 on the weekend and win the CWS Legacy Title.Fantastic weekend for the #10 in the 2014 IPR 100. This is actually his first ranking in 2015, so he’ll need to pick up some more wins and perhaps some more titles to build on this and head back to the #1 spot which he visited several times in 2014.” Also receiving votes were former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Colt Cabana, NWA Women’s Champion, Santana Garrett, former NWA Women’s Champion, Kacee Carlisle and NWA Mid South Unified Champion, Jason Peter Rose. Bruce Tharpe reported, “The NWA expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Hijo del Perro Aguayo after he passed away last night after a match in Mexico. Shocked and saddened by the loss of this wrestling brother. I met him in Monterrey, Mexico and he was a nice guy.”

That’s it for this edition of “The NWA Home Office”, but before I go I wanted to bring your attention to a promotion called Wrestling Cares Association. Who are they? Their website states,
“Wrestling Cares Association (WCA) provides quality family-friendly wrestling action that gives fans the best in entertainment while simultaneously helping improve their communities. WCA accomplishes this by guaranteeing exactly 25% of all ticket sales be donated to any and all non-profit charities who wish to raise funds through our wrestling events. Wrestling Cares Association is especially dedicated to partnering with any and all local and state non-profit charities to help make a better California.” The company is ran by Director of Talent & Scouting, Les Thatcher. This is a good description of who Mr. Thatcher is from their website, “Les was the Founder, Owner, and Head Trainer at Les Thatcher’s Main Event Pro Wrestling Camp and Heartland Wrestling Association from 1995 to 2003.

Les has held the positions of promoter, wrestler, producer, talent scout, script writer, commentator, announcer, trainer, and consultant. One of Thatcher’s promotions, Heartland Wrestling Association, was utilized by both World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment (known at the time as the World Wrestling Federation) as its official minor league development organization. Les’ HWA promotion is responsible for fostering many of today’s current television wrestling personalities, and for preparing them for the demanding schedules of WWE and TNA. Les is the co-Founder, with fellow legends Harley Race and Ricky Steamboat and Owner of Elite Pro Wrestling Training, a company that presents seminars and training camps for wrestling promoters, and provides consulting on the business of professional wrestling in general. Les has also co-authored The Professional Wrestlers Workout and Instructional Guide with Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, and Alex Marvez.

Chief among Les’ fundraising activities in wrestling was his creation of the Brian Pillman Memorial Shows, which ran from 1998-2001. Benefiting the children of Brian Pillman and bringing together the best talent from the World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling, as well as top independent performers, the Pillman Memorial Shows drew thousands of people to support and raise money for an important cause. The proceeds for each of the memorial events went to the future education of Pillman’s children.” And another great look at who David Jackson, WCA President is, again from their website. “David has spent much of his professional career working with charities that benefit the arts. He has worked as the Development Director for a Community Arts Center serving the children of South Los Angeles. For two years, David served as the Assistant to the Managing Director at The Little Orchestra Society. He has also worked as an Assistant Development Director of Synchronicity Fine Arts of New York.

Highly dedicated to community improvement projects, David has worked with L.A.’s Inner City Education Foundation Summer Arts Program and the Ghana Free Community Library Project in West Africa. David has long believed in the power of the arts to help raise awareness of various causes and bring communities together. David now seeks to apply the same philosophy to professional wrestling. He has admired the efforts of other independent wrestling companies in aiding charities, but also believes these efforts should not be sporadic.

To ensure a high standard of quality for all of WCA’s live shows, David sought out and successfully recruited fabled expert trainer and creative producer, Les Thatcher. Les appreciating the ambition of WCA’s outreach, signed on to serve as its Director of Talent.

David pledges that every Wrestling Cares Association event will give 25% of ticket sales to raise funds for a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity.”

Mr. Jackson is a heavy hitter when it comes to helping those in need and Mr. Thatcher has a storied history with the NWA and it’s partners. His work with The Cauliflower Alley Club includes recieving the Art Abrams Lifetime Achievement Award (2005) and serving as a member of the Board Of Directors. In the National Wrestling Alliance he held the NWA World Tag Team Championship (Mid-America version) with Dennis Hall, the NWA United States Tag Team Championship (Mid-America version) with Roger Kirby, Bearcat Brown and Dennis Hall, the NWA Southern Tag Team Championship (Mid-America version) with Bearcat Brown and the NWA Tennessee Tag Team Championship 4 times with Dennis Hall, Whitey Caldwell and twice with Nelson Royal. This is the kind of tradition the NWA is proud of. Support these guys at www.wrestlingcares.com and thanks for reading!
