The Crown Jewel is the Real Deal — A look at Chase Owens

2014 seemed to be a banner year for Chase Owens although it ended with him losing the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship to Jushin Liger, it was still a year he was afforded the opportunity to wrestle for TNA, challenge for the NWA World Tag Team Titles and the World Heavyweight Championship. All the while Owens when champion had defended the title in North Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and even became a regular for Canadian Wrestling’s Elite defended his NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship there too.
But in 2015 Chase Owens has quietly put together one of the most incredible years a wrestler could have. Most recently the “Crown Jewel” of the Illuminati turn the “Crown Jewel” of the Bullet Club joined the “Road to POWER STRUGGLE” tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling (marking his 5th tour with NJPW.) October 23rd saw Owens teams with and join the Bullet Club (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks). The 24th, Owens and Omega were eliminated from the Super Junior Tag Tournament in the First Round being defeated by Roppongi Vice (Beretta & Rocky Romero). Then on the 25th in Niigatta teamed in losing efforts with Doc Gallows, Cody Hall and Kenny Omega to take on Hirooki Goto, Katsuyori Shibata, KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley. The following night Owens took the fall against Ricochet following the Benadriller during a 4 man tag with the Young Bucks and Omega against Ricochet, Matt Sydal, Mascara Dorada and Ryunske Taguchi. Bad luck continued to follow the Bullet Club when Owens, Omega, and Bad Luck Fale lost to Beretta, Rocky Romero & Toru Yano. It wasn’t too long ago Owens tied for 4th in Block A of the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament going 4-3 with victories over Gedo, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, Taguchi and Yohei Komatsu.
Also this year Owens was part of a crew of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling who visited China for a brief tour. Owens won the MACW Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Sigmon, a title he still holds currently. He has had over 20 matches working for Canadian’s Wrestling Elite. Not to mention working a TNA House Show and Global Force Wrestling’s Ballpark Tour in Tennessee. And it was back home in the Tennessee would win and later lose the NWA United States Tag Team Championship.
Although a NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship may have eluded the talented youngster he has found a way to grow his national presence and has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he’s ready for the next level. Owens will continue in New Japan thru November 8th. The Crown Jewel returns to NWA Smoky Mountain at Kingsport Tennessee on November 21st to take on Kid Kash after Kash attacked Owens mentor Ricky Morton. Owens is also set to return to Canadian Wrestling’s Elite on December 2nd in a huge match against former WWE Superstar Charlie Haas.
