SPECIAL GUEST BARRETT BROWN | THE ALLIANCE GUYS PODCAST | NWA NEWS & INFORMATION
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Amidst controversy for the National Wrestling Alliance and ownership in flux, 50 Caliber would defeat Mr. USA to become the tenth man to hold the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion of the National Wrestling Alliance, during the Bruce Tharpe era. This match took place on August 12th, 2017, in Dyersburg Tennessee, a mere fifty days before the announcement would be made official that Billy Corgan had purchased the National Wrestling Alliance and would seal all championship histories with the exception. Tim Storm would continue his title run. Later Jazz would continue her recognition as champion. The same opportunity wasn’t provided for Barrett Brown.
The NWA would showcase the man, who did not lose his title at the 70th Anniversary Show at their 70th Anniversary Show a year later when he defeated Laredo Kid. Many felt that this might lead to more opportunities for Brown. It did not. When POWERRR premiered in 2019, again many thought the opportunities would present themselves to former NWA Champions. This did not happen. And even after the NWA reintroduced the World Junior Heavyweight Championship, no opportunities were made available.
Barrett Brown has only ever asked for an opportunity. Those pleas have landed on deaf ears. June 23rd, the Stray Dog finally gets the opportunity that has alluded him. On this day, Brown hopes to regain a title he never lost. This will be the date when Barrett Brown will finally get the attention of the National Wrestling Alliance.
