Shawn Blanchard Challenges Nick Aldis for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship
Keystone State Wrestling Alliance announced Tuesday November 6th that NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis would be appearing at the Fan Fest 2018 event, December 1st. It was revealed earlier today that he match will be sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance and the title will be on the line.
At the NWA 70th Anniversary on October 21st, Nick Aldis defeated Cody in the main event to become a two time Worlds Heavyweight Champion. The match was contested two out of three falls match, Aldis would win the first fall with a King’s Lynn Clover Leaf and the third and final fall with a rollup. Aldis recently announced the continuation of the Aldis Crusade with defenses in Philadelphia, Winston Salem, and Puerto Rico before the end of the year.
Shawn Blanchard has been a regular with KSWA since its inception in 2000. He’s wrestled eighteen times over the course of twenty two shows this year. When not working in tag team matches with Lou Martin, Bob Badfingers, or Tommy Faime, Blanchard has challenged Anthony Alexander for his Golden Triangle Championship, repeatedly. Blanchard’s biggest victory of the year came back in May when he defeated”Big Country” Matt McGraw in a Bullrope Match.
Longtime wrestling fan Kurt Hackimer pointed out this match will be the first time since November 11th, 1988 that the NWA Championship will be defended in Pittsburgh. Although Kurt noted that title was last defended by Dan Severn in Plum and New Castle in 1995. And former NWA affiliated promotion, PWX hosted a couple of title bouts in McKeesport as well (Sabu defended the title in 2000 while Adam Pearce beat Sterling James Keenan in 2008).
KSWA has been around since 2000. With matches in and around the Pittsburgh area, they typically runs 15 matches a year. Also scheduled for the Fan Fest Event is a former challenger to the Ten Pounds of Gold, Sam Adonis. Keystone State presents Fan Fest 2018 taking place from the Spirit Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
