Serena Deeb returns to AEW Dynamite

This Wednesday Night, NWA World Woman’s Champion Serena Deeb returns to AEW Dynamite. Serena Deeb will defend the Burke against Red Velvet. This will be the first match for Deeb since February 17th. That’s when she lost to Riho in the First Round of the AEW Women’s World Title Tournament. The champion last defended her title against Tay Conti back on January 7th, 2021.

Where has Serena Deeb been?

Serena Deeb had arthroscopic knee surgery on March 5th that has kept her out of the ring. Done as a precaution, the surgery has kept Deeb out of a ring for three months. Deeb is the first NWA World Woman’s Champion to not have had a single NWA match. Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa for the title on October 27th, 2020 at the United Wrestling Network Prime Time Live PPV. Deeb racked up four victories as champion before going down to injury, all under the AEW Banner.

Who is Red Velvet?

Wrestling since 2016, the Floridian native has been an AEW Regular since June, 2020. Velvet has competed in over 32 matches for AEW, working on both Dark and Dynamite. She has also made her way into Thunder Rosa’s Mission Pro. Most recently, Velvet challenged MPW Champion La Rosa Negra. Although not coming away with the champion, Red Velvet has become a top competitor for All Elite Wrestling.
