POWERRR NEWS AND NOTES 02-13-25 | #NWA

The second episode of NWA POWERRR. from the Signature Live Event Looks That Kill is packed with some Tag Team Title Matches. These episodes were recorded live at the Dothan Civic Center, in Dothan Alabama, on Saturday, December 14th, 2024. The NWA returns to Dothan Civic Center on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 for Hard Times 5.

This episode opened with Trevor Murdoch and Mike Knox defending the NWA World Tag Team Championship against the duo of Daisy Kill and Talos. Kill and Talos are two-time former NWA US Tag Team Champions. Their first run as champions saw them defeat the Original Country Gentlemen to become champions at NWA 75. They would lose the titles to the Immortals at the first Samhain PPV. They defeated The immortals at Samhain 2 to be named Number One Contenders. They regained the titles in an eliminator match against the Fixers. They’d lose the titles to the new Country Gentlemen at NWA 76. This was the first opportunity for Kill and Talos for the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Knox and Murdoch have been tag team champions since June 1st, 2024 when they defeated Blunt Force Trauma at Back to the Territories. They have successfully defended the titles five times before this episode.

Colby Corino and Kerry Morton have shared the ring 14 times since both debuted in the NWA. Colby defeated Kerry to advance to the finals of the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Tournament in 2021. Although Homicide would go on to win the title, Morton would become the Number One Contender to that title via a Six Way Scramble that featured future champions Joe Alonzo and Colby Corino. Morton would successfully defend against Kerry Morton in Chalmette Lousiana for the Revolution Rumble. However, Corino would become champion by defeating Corino at NWA 76. After Colby lost the title to Joe Alonzo, similarly to Kerry he declared for the Heavyweight Designation. Colby would be Kyle Davis’ mystery partner when the Southern Six challenged Davis to find a partner. This would lead to Corino and Bryan Idol rallying against Mason and Morton of the Southern Six. Both men are second-generation talents. Pinfall or submission must happen inside the ring, but the rules are relaxed for this one.

Ella Envy and Ms Starr defeated The King Beez to become Tag Team Champions at the NWA 76th Anniversary Show at the ECW arena. Envy had announced back on January 1st that she was leaving the National Wrestling Alliance. Back in December Kylie Paige was injured. Kylie is a former NWA Women’s Tag Team Champion with Ella Envy. The pair split ways when Ella Envy challenged Kenzie, Kylie’s sister for the NWA Women’s Championship. Kylie and Kenzie had won a street fight tag team match against Ms Starr and Ella Envy before they became NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champions. Unfortunately, plans had to be reevaluated after the injury. Big Mama was scheduled to be a mystery partner, however, she hasn’t been seen on NWA POWERRR since NWA 76. She was featured in a big match-up for the NWA Women’s Television Championship with NWA Chicago but has yet to defend the title on POWERRR. Due to the injury Kylie was replaced by her sister and the Women’s World Champion Kenzie Paige.
