Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the very first Crockett Cup, the NWA marches to the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Tag Team Tournament. The tournament endured a 31-year sabbatical after the first three tournaments. 1986 Hawk and Animal (The Road Warriors) became the very first Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Tag Team Tournament Champions. Nikita Koloff and Dusty Rhodes would win the tournament in 1987. Sting and Lex Luger would win in 1988. The tournament would resurface with the blessing of the Crockett Family in 2019. Brody King and PCO would win both the Cup and the NWA Worlds Tag Team Championship in 2019. Jay and Mark Briscoe would win the tournament in 2022. Knox and Murdoch would win the 2023 tournament. In 2024, Alex Taylor and Kerry Morton (the Southern 6) would shock the NWA by winning the tournament. Lastly, Kratos and Odinson (the Immortals) would win the tournament and go on to win the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
