NWA Worlds Title Match Scheduled or August 29th

After eight months without a Worlds Heavyweight Championship defense, Nick Aldis is scheduled to be part of the Main Event on August 29th 2020 in North Richland Hills, Texas as he defends against Jeff Cobb and a Mystery Opponent in his only second title defense of the year.

The Independent Wrestling Expo presented by Fighting Words Promotion has scheduled a NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match for August 29th in North Richland Hills, TX at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

“The National Treasure” Nick Aldis is slated to defend the Ten Pounds of Gold against NJPW/ROH star Jeff Cobb and the winner of a of the Night One Battle Royal Winner.

The National Wrestling Alliance has laid dormant since the cancellation of the Crockett Cup 2020 nearly five months ago. Aldis, was scheduled to defend the Worlds Heavyweight Championship at the Crockett Cup against Marty Scurll. However, with that match cancellation and the other subsequent title matches scheduled, Nick Aldis hasn’t defended the title since January 24th 2020 and furthermore, Aldis hasn’t wrestled a match since February 9th at ROH Free Enterprise.

To his credit Aldis has been continuing to train with stablemate Thomas Latimer, but there is not telling what ring rust the Worlds Heavyweight Champion may be carrying with the lack of in ring competition due to Covid-19.

Jeff Cobb has recently joined the roster of Lion’s Break Collision and NJPW Strong, off shoots of New Japan USA and is scheduled to be a part of the NJPW USA Cup Tournament, with the winner being given a shot at the IWGP United States Champion.

The third man in the match will not be determined until night one, with the winner of the Battle Royal being included into the Worlds Title match the following night. Talents from SWE, AEW, MLW, and Impact Wrestling are also schedule to be apart of the show, which could radically change up the Night 2 Main Event.
