NWA World Jr. Champion: Owens to New Japan Pro Wrestling

The National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Championship returns to New Japan Pro Wrestling at the October 13th WPW/PPV King of Pro Wrestling from Tokyo Ryogoku Kokigikan. Three time NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title Chase Owens will represent the NWA and Americans everywhere by accepting the challenge of BUSHI.

BUSHI has been spending most of his time in New Japan being the third man in six man tag team matches, most often teaming with the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions the Time Spliters (Alex Shelley & KUSHIDA)

The last time the World Junior Heavyweight Championship was defended in Japan was in 2006 when Tiger Mask IV successfully defended the title against Wataru Inoue at the NJPW Circuit 2006 Turbulence show at the Green Dome in Sapporo. The last Gaijain to bring the World Junior Heavyweight Championship to New Japan was Rocky Romero, who competed as Black Tiger Mask IV. Romero will also be on the card competing in a three way tag team title match with his Forever Hooligan tag partner Alex Koslov against Shelley & KUSHIDA vs. the Young Bucks.

Chase Owens “The Crown Jewel” of the NWA has quietly wracked up a combined title reign of over 579 days while feuding with the likes of Jason Kincaid and later Ricky Morton. Although Owens has defending the title in Canada and through out the South, this will mark the first time that Owens will defend the title across the pacific and will serve to be his greatest challenge to date.
