NWA Smoky Mtn: House Party 2014
The Main Event for our 2014 Premiere at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium on January 4 has been signed. The NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, Chase Owens will defend the title against his former mentor, Ricky Morton!
Morton is the man that is responsible for breaking Chase into the sport. Ricky continued to support Owens throughout his career. Morton was even in his corner the night he won the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title the first time.
Their relationship took a turn for the worst when Morton won the NWA Smoky Mountain Cup Tournament in April. Owens, who defeated International star Davey Richards on the same night, felt that Ricky was trying to steal his spotlight and over shadow his accomplishments.
Then on May 18, Ricky Morton faced off with NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Conway. That night, in a heinous act of betrayal, Chase Owens turned his back on Ricky and cost him his chance at the title.
Owens, now known as the “Crown Jewel” of The Illuminati has been on a roll lately. On October 18 he regained the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title in Houston, TX. Just this past Saturday, he and Chris Richards defeated Air America to become the NWA Tennessee Tag Team Champions.
The NWA Hall of Famer, Ricky Morton proved earlier this year at the Smoky Mountain Cup that he is still capable of defeating top level competition. Morton pinned both former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Adam Pearce and current ROH Tag Team Champion, Kyle O’Reilly en route to his tournament victory. Morton will have to be at the top of his game if he wants to stop the momentum of his former student on January 4 in Kingsport.
Tickets are not currently on sale for this event officially, BUT every person who pledges $10 or more towards our Kickstarter Project will receive a ticket to the January 4 event if the Project is successful. If the campaign reaches its goal, every person who pledges $25 or more will receive access to a special meet and greet with the wrestlers. That includes these 2 ladies, Wrestling Legends Ricky Morton and Tracy Smother, and all the stars of NWA Smoky Mountain!
