NWA Powerrr Results: February 21st 2023

Here are the results from February 21st’s edition of NWA Powerrr, taped on February 12th and 13th from the WEDU PBS Studios, Tampa, Florida.

Match 1: Mimms and Dak Draper beat Blunt Force Trauma by DQ in a good match let down by a sudden ending when Aron Stevens popped Mimms in the face with the loaded glove. Commentary noted that it was a pointless gesture, as BFT were in control when it happened, which suggests something is being set up here.

Thom Latimer and Tyrus were interviewed together. Latimer revealed that he will be defending the NWA Television title against Rhett Titus next week (sure to be a great match) while Tyrus was not impressed with Blck Jeez hooking up with EC3 last week. “They can play it out ’cause I’mma lay ’em out!”

Kerry Morton joined Kyle Davis at the podium. Kerry denies his head wasn’t in the game last week and states he is proud to put up his Junior Heavyweight belt against any “worthy, prestigious” challenger. Jamie Stanley interrupted and claimed Kerry is not the real champ – Joe Alonzo is. Stanley demanded a title shot for Alonzo tonight, but Kerry responded that Alonzo can only have the shot if he beats a worthy opponent of Kerry’s choosing.

Match 2: NWA National Heavyweight Champion Cyon (w/Austin Idol) and Kratos went to a time-limit draw in a decent encounter. Kratos put Cyon over well and still loomed like a beast himself.

Thrillbilly Silas told May Valentine and James Mitchell how he’s going to best Judais on this Saturday’s NWA USA. My words cannot do this promo justice. James Mitchell held his own though, denouncing Silas as a redneck and that Mason would go down faster than “Pollo del Mar in a San Francisco bathhouse”. Oh my!

Match 3: Matt Cardona beat Odinson in a good match after Odinson had moved the ref out of the way and Cardona used the distraction to nail Odison in the head with Odinson’s canister of ‘pounce’.

Matt Cardona joined Kyle Davis at the podium and called out Bully Ray, telling him to name the time and place. Evidently, Cardona didn’t know Bully was in the building as he didn’t seem so keen as Bully approached the podium. Bully surveyed the crowd as to whether Cardona just cheated to win before asking Cardona what he was complaining about now. Cardona told Bully there’s one thing he’s done that Bully hasn’t: held the NWA championship. He told Bully he would have to beat Mike Knox first before he gets a shot at Cardona. Bully then encouraged Kyle Davis, Tim Storm, Joe Galli and Velvet Sky to chant that Matt’s a coward.

Earlier in the day, Joe Galli interviewed Blk Jeez and EC3 in the empty studio. Blk Jeez claims everything’s cool with Tyrus but is now launching Blk Jeez Entertainment in association with Control Your Narrative to expand into various entertainment markets. EC3 says collaboration is art and he will challenge Cyon (Blk Jeez’s stablemate) for the National Championship at NWA 312.

Match 4: Pretty Empowered (Ella Envy & Roxy) beat NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions The Renegade Twins to win the championships in a good match that I enjoyed more than the Nuff Said encounter. Roxy scored the win by reversing a Robin roll-up and grabbing the tights.

Missa Kate and Madi suddenly emerged and invoked their Champions Series clause for a match there and then. Madi finished Roxy off with the Reality Check kick to make Madi and Missa Kate the brand new Women’s Tag Team Champions. I thought Kate and Madi had split previously, but they’re certainly great people to hold the belts

That’s all for this week’s NWA Powerrr. Thanks for reading!
