Tonight the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship returns to Ontario Canada for part of the Reena Rumble. They are expecting to raise over 100 thousand dollars for the Reena Foundation. This marks the first time the National Treasure will defend his Ten Pounds of Gold in Canada. The last NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion to defend in Ontario was Christian Cage in 2006. With his two reigns combined, Nick Aldis has now defended the Worlds Heavyweight Championship a record setting ten times in the United Kingdom, four times in Australia, the first in China, twenty seven matches in the United States not including one in Puerto Rico.
Under the nom de plume, Barbi Hayden has been one of the break through stars of Women of Wrestling. Hayden is a former NWA Woman’s Champion, in fact she’s the youngest to ever hold the title.. The former Champion who wrestles as Abilene Maverick on AXS-TV has wrestled all over the world. In fact, her and Tessa Blanchard competed on the first televised woman’s wrestling match in China. She recently spoke to Diva Dirt about her time as champion. WOW airs Friday Nights 9pm.
Speaking of The NWA Woman’s World Champion, Jazz is coming off a successful title defense in New Jersey at Synergy Wrestling Eight. Defeating Maria Maniac to retain her Woman’s Championship. This has been her 5th defense since the title was re-activated October 21st at the NWA 70th Anniversary . The match became a Falls Count Anywhere, No Disqualification Match. Synergy Wrestling released a brief clip on their twitter page. Jazz is scheduled to be at the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood TV Taping February 10th. No opponent has been named yet. Her next match is scheduled to be at Ladies Night Out 5 for the Title Match Network where she’ll face Ivelisse on February 23rd. No word if the title will be on the line.
The National Wrestling Alliance with Ring of Honor will be presenting the 2019 Crockett Cup on April 27th 2019 in Concord, North Carolina. Already scheduled to be in the tournament are the War Kings (who won a qualifying match at the NWA Pop Up Event in Clarksville) and the Villains Enterprise (who won the ROH Tag Wars Tournament in Texas). More names will be added to the event soon. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on February 8th 10am.
