NWA Houston-area professional wrestling ‘Hotter Than Hell’

CYPRESS, Texas

The second Friday of every month brings plenty of charisma and athleticism to the VFW Post 8905 in Cypress, courtesy of National Wrestling Alliance Houston.

Fans gathered June 8 at the post for the NWA Houston live show dubbed Hotter Than Hell, which featured eight matches including five matches with championship implications.

Carson, with Barbi Hayden in his corner, was among the wrestlers scheduled in the June 8 event as part of a grudge match against Jasper Davis. Weeks before stepping into the NWA Houston ring, Carson was one of several wrestlers with the promotion who appeared at Comicpalooza at the George R. Brown Convention Center on May 26 to take part in modified live matches and meet Houston-area wrestling fans.

With three years pursuing his dreams, Carson is developing into a wrestler with plenty of promise to reaching his goal of a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. He has the support and verbal endorsement of fellow NWA Houston wrestler Chaz Taylor, who told FOX 26 News at Comicpalooza that 2012 marked his 25th year as a wrestler.

A modified version of the NWA Houston wrestling ring was placed in Hall B of the convention center during Comicpalooza and the NWA Houston roster took part in seven exhibition matches during the three-day event.

“They’ve helped me get better about my game,” said Carson about his years with NWA Houston. “They’ve helped me get my foot in a lot of doors.”

‘Tugboat’ Taylor is one of the veteran wrestlers who helps train the men and women of the NWA Houston roster. He was wrestled with several WWE Hall of Fame inductees including Junkyard Dog, ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase and ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Paul Orndorff.

“I’m just here to help everybody, do what I can for the business,” said ‘Tugboat’ Taylor.
