New Tag Team Champions
“King Fat Boy” Papo Esco and Danny “Limelight” Rivera are your new United Wrestling Network World Tag Team Champions. The duo became the 12th team to wear the titles by defeating SoCal Distancing (Andy Brown and Dom Kubrick (who was substituting for Adrian Quest ala the Freebirds) on this past weekend’s episode of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.
Who are The Bodega?
Prior to coming together, Papo Esco was working mainly in Northern California as a part of Pro Wrestling Revolution. Limelight had been working in CWFH, previously teaming with his “cousin” Gino Rivera. Danny would later become a singles competitor in Hollywood having some outstanding matches, before being injured in 2019 and was expected to be out for 9 weeks. Limelight recovered rather quickly. He and Papo Esco started teaming in the United Wrestling Network earlier this year. The pairing has victories over the Millennials and Wasted Youth in Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and picked up a victory over the Real Money Brothers on Episode 7 of Prime Time LIVE. But what solidified their claim to challenge SoCal Distancing was defeating 4 Minutes of Heat, Wasted Youth, and Max Caster & VSK in a #1 Contendership bout on Episode 495 of CWFH.
Not without controversy, Socal Distancing should have been disqualified in the match. Brown kicked the referee to stop the three count when the Bodega connected with their finishing move. Then all hell broke loose. A donnybrook ensued that saw; Ray Rosas effort to cross the tag champs, new SoCal Distancing recruit Miguel to interfere, Kevin Martenson join the foray, and “The Man” all battle wage war. In the end, it was Slice Boogie coming to the aid of Limelight and Esco. Photos afterward seem to indicate that maybe Boogie has joined the Bodega.
SoCal Distancing won the UWN Tag Team titles under the guidance of Ray Rosas under the name of Static. The group at one point held most of the Championships in the United Wrestling Network. They won the titles by defeating recent WWE signee Ryan Taylor and Tomaste (the Soul Burners) back in February on Episode 456 of CWFH.
