New NWA Tag Team Champions Crowned: The Heat Seekers

For the first time in over two years the NWA World Tag Team Titles changed hands on American Soil when former NWA United States Tag Team Champions the Heat Seekers outlasted both members of the Illuminati (Chris Richards and Chase Owens) and the Killer Elite Squad (Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer).

The Killer Elite Squad were twice the NWA Tag Team Champions. At different times during their reign they were simultaneously the IWGP Tag Champions or NOAH’s Global Honored Crown Champions. The frequency of NWA Tag Title defenses dwindled with the increased GHC Title defenses for NOAH. During their tenure as World Tag Champions, KES competed regularly for New Japan as well as NOAH and even appeared in Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling.

Sigmon and Elliot Russel are former NWA United States Tag Team Champions. Their first scheduled defense will be this weekend at NWA Mid South, Saturday October 17th against Greg Anthony and Matt Riviera, members of the Empire.
