LVL UP Beers Burgers Bateman Preview | LVL UP News

What a historic night it was on September 3rd when Level Up Pro Wrestling celebrated their 4th Anniversary! New Champions were crowned and two talents made their Live Event debuts. But that was just the start of a new era. Level Up continues with Beers Burgers Bateman this Saturday, September 10th 2022!

A lot has changed in the 3 years Tyler Bateman has been away from Southern California. A lot of talents climbed up the rankings and are now the guard who carry the Southern California Wrestling scene. Tyler Bateman returned to the Southern California scene when all ROH talents were released due to the closing of ROH under the old regime (before it was bought by Tony Khan). The return of the GAWD DAMN MAN open the door to some big, fresh up matches.
Throughout 2022 he faced some old rivals like Ray Rosas but also talents like Miggy Rose, Robin Shaw, Jordan Cruz, Duke Bennett, Chris Nasty, El Primohenio Trebeca, Brendan Divine and recently J2 Mattioli. This Saturday he will face “The Menace” Leo Canedo!
Since adopting his new persona (and switched his baseball bat for Max The Mask) Leo Canedo has been unstoppable in Level Up Pro Wrestling. He has been undefeated since that chance and is the most improved Wrestler in Level Up Pro Wrestling from his class – in my eyes. He proved time and time again that he can hang with the bests in Millennium Pro Wrestling & Level Up Pro Wrestling. But will that be enough to survive the GAWD DAMN MAN?
The match against Tyler Bateman will be Leo Canedo’s toughest test in his progress. A win over Bateman would be considered a huge upset but at the same time a huge statement as well. A win over Bateman could level up his career and his status in Southern California. It’s must win situation for Leo Canedo and he will do everything he can to not only survive the GAWD DAMN MAN but beat him!

What a historic Main Event that was last Saturday. Jordan Cruz defeated J2 Mattioli for the Level Up Championship at the 4th Anniversary to become the 4th Level Up Champion in history. One week later he has to defend his title for the first time… In a 6-Man Scramble Match! Let us take a look at his challengers.
J2 MATTIOLI: As mentioned J2 Mattioli lost the Level Up Championship to Jordan Cruz last Saturday at the LVL UP 4th Anniversary Show – which ended his 2nd Level Up Championship reign at 84 Days & 3 Title Defenses. The Playmaker wants to regain his title because in his mind he is the Face Of Level Up Pro Wrestling and to prove that he needs to be the Champion!
MICHAEL HOPKINS: The M.A.W. belongs to the first ever class of Level Up Pro Wrestling but hasn’t been able to win a Championship in Level Up yet. Is it his time? In the past he & Jordan Cruz faced each other multiple times and also got some victories over the former Champion. Plus: He was very close winning the last Scramble match at Unforgettable! Could this be the night of the M.A.W.?
FABRIZIO MAMBA: When Fabrizio ended the Terrordome Rumble 2022 as the runner-up, everybody thought that he could be the Level Up Champion by now – but it didn’t happen (yet). Instead he was in a long rivalry with now-Level Up Tag Team Champions The Shady Boyz. He struggled to get a victory over them for a long time until he finally got that victory and even shaved DTF’s hair! But right aftee that he failed to become the No. 1 Contender for the Ground Zero Championship, his team lost the 6-Man Tag Match, he lost against his arch rival Leo Canedo at a showcase episode + lost the Fatal 4 Way No. 1 Contenders Match for a Level Up Championship match. Can he get back on track and win the title? A win would be a huge surprise – maybe even considered a upset…
HUNTER FREEMAN: For Hunter Freeman it was a heartbreaking Anniversary night as he failed to recapture the Ground Zero Championship of Ju Dizz in the 2/3 Doors Match. Meanwhile… It was announced that Hunter Freeman returns to GCW to face former MLW Talent Mance Warner which is considered a dream match for him! Will he get some momentum in Level Up for that match – by becoming Level Up Champion? He has a lot of frustration in him which he can leash out in this Scramble Match. If he wins the Level Up Title he could make history as well as he would be the only man who held the Ground Zero & Level Up Pro Wrestling Championship!
B-BOY: The New Age Punisher is ready to show all of his students that he can still go and if he wants on top of the promotion! He defeated Sunset Tiger in his Live Event debut and praised the newcomer after the match. But this is a complete different environment as he faces the top players of Level Up Pro Wrestlers – all former students of him at one point. Will he outshine them all and prove that he can still hang with the very best of Level Up Pro Wrestling & Southern California overall?
What a tough task in his first Championship defense for the Modern Spartan against the very best Level Up Pro Wrestling has to offer. But Jordan Cruz is ready to take all challengers – especially knowing that a potential clash with his (former) Alpha Instinct partner CJ Tino is on the horizon! Will this be even a factor of motivation for Cruz? We’ll find out this Saturday!

Speaking of CJ Tino: Mr. 551 will challenge Ju Dizz for the Ground Zero Championship at LVL UP Beers Burgers Bateman. But is CJ Tino even focused enough for it? After he won the Fatal 4 Way Match to challenge for the Level Up Championship in the future, he got attacked by his own Alpha Instinct Tag Team Partner Jordan Cruz – the same man who pinned him a month prior in the Scramble Match to become No. 1 Contender! Alpha Instinct seems to be over and it could get into CJ’s head… Something which can be advantage for Ju Dizz!
Ju Dizz – who successfully defended his title against Hunter Freeman in a 2/3 Doors Match at the Anniversary Show – is known for using mind games to get a advantage over his opponents. So the Alpha Instinct split can be something he can work with. If Ju Dizz retains over CJ Tino this Saturday he’ll go on to LVL UP Critical Breakdown in October to face The Enterprise’s Cameron August!
For both this Championship Match could change the path to their future opponent. Ju Dizz would face Cameron August without the title – despite being friends with The Enterprise. If CJ Tino wins the title he could face Jordan Cruz in a Title For Title match – if Cruz is able to retain in the Scramble Match!

History was made last week when The Shady Boyz won the Battle Royal and became the first ever LVL UP Tag Team Champions! And what a task they have in front of them as they are scheduled to defend against SoCal 2021 Tag Team Of The Year Brothers Divine!
Danny Divine was out of action for over 6 months and just returned recently on Millennium Pro Wrestling. The Tag Team of him & his brother Brendan Divine just recently had their first Tag Team bout together against The Block in MPW for the first time in over a year – but they worked so well together like they haven’t stopped doing that at all. And they want to prove to everyone that they are the best Tag Team in Southern California!
Could this turn into a historic Champions vs. Champions Match over the LVL Up Tag Team Championships? On Friday the Brothers Divine will challenge Cameron August & Jeff Roth for the MPW Tag Team Championships at the MPW Anniversary Spectacular and if they are able to win the Championships they go into this Match as Champions as well… The Brothers Divine have never been Tag Team Champions together in their career and this weekend they could walk out as Double Tag Team Champions! But knowing Shady Boyz they will do everything they can to defend their Championships and to defeat the 2021 SoCal Tag Team Of The Year… To become SoCal Tag Team Of The Year themselves! Especially with the momentum going into this Championship Match could give the Shady Boyz a advantage…This could be a historic bout for the SoCal Tag Team scene.

The Enterprise is considered one of the most dominant forces in Southern California right now. They held the MPW Undisputed National | North American & MPW Tag Team Championships and dominate MPW & Level Up Pro Wrestling this year. But now the trio of “The Kingmaker” Robin Shaw, Cameron August & Jeff Roth will face their toughest challenge yet as they are scheduled to face Watts & RockNES Monsters! This trio is very well known all over the Southern California scene. Some might consider a “The Past vs. The Current” match.
For The Enterprise it is a must win situation to maintain their position as a dominant force in the Southern California scene for now and going forward. For Robin Shaw a win would be Sweet revenge over Watts as he was unable to beat the former Hollywood Heritage Champion earlier last year in MPW. For Cameron August & Jeff Roth it would be a huge win over a Tag Team like RockNES Monsters. Watts & RockNES Monsters do not team with each other as much as they used to – but a win would prove that they still can go against the Stars of today & tomorrow. Whoever wins this Match, it will be a interesting clash people should have their eyes on.

At LVL UP Drop It Like Its Hot in June a lot of people were surprised by Holy Storm vs. The Block – especially with both teams just coming together a few weeks prior. Both wanted to win the LVL UP Tag Team Championships but failed to win the titles in the Battle Royal at the LVL UP Anniversary Show. So its back to the drawing board… Who will get the victory at Beers Burgers Bateman to get closer to a LVL UP Tag Team Championship Match?
