La Rebelion take the NWA Tag Team Titles to Mexico | NWA NEWS

You know what, I think it is unbelievable. After a hard fought match, one of the best matches ever seen in the NWA. We worked so hard to win these belts. And now you have a tournament to decide who is going to challenge us, with a bunch of nobodies and a bunch of people we already beat. So here’s what we’re going to do.  We’re going to take these belts to Mexico!  And we’re not coming back until you bring us some real competition.

Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf defeated Aron Stevens and JR Kratos for the titles at the 73 Anniversary Pay Per View. With the NWA’s decision to make contenders for the tag team titles via a tournament, La Rebelion have opted to take their talents south of the border. The pair are no strangers to Mexico and have enjoyed immense success in the past working in that country.

La Rebelión Amarilla and The Crash

Long before Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf showed up for When Our Shadows Fall, there was a different La Rebelión. Initially coming into existence in August 2017, La Rebelión Amarilla was founded by Garza Jr. The group included, Bestia 666, Mecha Wolf, Rey Horus, and Black Danger. At various points the group included Último Ninja, Lacey Lane, Black Tauro, El Hijo Del Fantasma, and Luke Hawx. The group came together after Garza Jr. splintered from the original La Rebelión that also included the Lucha Bros and Rey Misterio Jr. Bestia 666 became the leader of the group when Garza Jr. left for the WWE. Although initially a heel group, the fans at The Crash couldn’t help but cheering for them. Bestia and Mecha Wolf would hold the Crash Tag Team Titles for almost an entire year before losing them.

At 34 years of age, Mecha Wolf has already had quite the career and he might just becoming into his prime. It was even reported last year that he might be leaning towards retirement at the end of 2020. Mecha Wolf is celebrated as one of the greatest modern day wrestlers out of Puerto Rico having been a multi-time WWC Universal Heavyweight Champion and previously held the NWA championships in Chicago and in Florida. Oddly enough he had competed regularly for the NWA in Chicago and the North East and later in Florida for the two different NWA Ownership Groups prior to William Patrick Corgan. Bestia 666 is the son of Damian 666 one of the founding members of La Familia de Tijuana. Bestia has worked Bestia has held titles on both signs of the border. Holding Cruiserweight Championships, tag titles, and was a member of Los Perros del Mal. However Bestia has found most of his success as the leader of La Rebelion Amarilla. They won the Gulf Coast Wrestling Association Tag Team Championships this past weekend. This would be the 3rd set of tag team titles for La Rebelion. They are still the reigning Lucha Maniaks Tag Team Champions.

La Rebelion defended their tag titles successfully this past weekend at Loko_Wrestling in Houston Texas. They might be at the NWA PPV “By Any Means Necessary” a co-promoted ppv between NWA and Tried N True Pro.
