Jazz vs. Monroe set for Hollywood
The NWA Woman’s Worlds Championship returns to Southern California when reigning champion Jazz defends her title against Heather Monroe at the Ocean View Pavilion as part of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood’s Television Taping on February 10th at 3 PM.
During the January 20th Championship from Hollywood Television Taping, it was announced that the reigning NWA Worlds Woman’s Champion would make a rare Southern California appearance. It was confirmed earlier this week that the title will be on the line as Jazz makes her debut at CWFH.
Jazz won the NWA Woman’s Championship September 16th 2016 by defeating Amber Gallows (the former champion) and Christi James in Sherman Texas. After a handful of defenses the title was put on hiatus, following Billy Corgan’s purchased of the National Wrestling Alliance. The championship was re-activated at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show when Jazz defended against Penelope Ford. Jazz is a former two time WWE Woman’s Champion having defeated Trish Stratus twice for the title in 2002 and 2003.
The NWA Women’s World Championship was last defended in Southern California on Before that, Amazing Kong defended the title a few times in the area in 2007 and 2008. Prior to Amazing Kong’s defenses, the Fabulous Moolah defending the title in the late 1970s was the last time the title had been defended in the area.
Prior to her debut at CWFH, Heather Monroe had already traveled the world as part of a Rock’N’Roll/Wrestling Tour. Wrestling as La Sirena, Monroe wrestled night in night out across the world as the opening act for the band Puscifer. Monroe has been quite successful in Championship Wrestling from Hollywood including a victory over Barbi Hayden in Wenzhou, China.
This marks the third NWA Woman’s World Championship match that David Marquez and Company have promoted. The first was January 18th, 2008 at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. Amazing Kong defeated Candice LeRae. The other match was April 27th, 2008, Sara Del Ray defeated Kong by Disqualification at the JFK Recreation Center in Newark, New Jersey. This will be the first time the NWA Woman’s Championship has been in California since July 27, 2015. Santana Garrett went to a no-contest with Christina Von Eerie at an AWS Event.
Championship Wrestling from Hollywood will feature three title matches as part of its television tapings at the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme. The show starts at 3 PM and admission is free.
