James Storm announced as Nick Aldis opponent at NWA Pop Up Event

News broke via the social media accounts of the National Wrestling Alliance that the man to challenge Nick Aldis for Worlds Heavyweight Championship at the Pop Up Event on January 5th in Clarksville Tennessee would be James Storm.

Mostly famously known for his time with Impact Wrestling, the Tennessee Cowboy was mostly known as a tag team wrestler while in Impact. He held the tag team titles a total of seven times (both NWA and Impact championships) with the likes of “Wild Cat” Chris Harris, Christopher Daniels, Robert Roode, Gunner, and Abyss. He did have a very brief run as Impact World Heavyweight Champion and King of the Mountain Champion. In 2015, Storm briefly left Impact Wrestling to join WWE’s NXT only to return to Impact a few months later. Ultimately Storm left Impact in September of 2017 when he lost to Dan Lambert in a Career vs. Career match in Ontario Canada.

April 23rd 2017 would be the last time the two were in a match both losing a number one conternderhip to the Impact Championship, that saw Aldis leave the company after that night. Since then The Worlds Heavyweight Champion has plied his craft across the globe regaining the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship by defeating Cody at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show. Aldis already has successfully defended against Brandon Scott, Shawn Blanchard, Jake Hager and matches scheduled against Brian Cage, Bad Dude Tito, Billy Gunn, and a tour of the United Kingdom to finish up his year.

Announced by NWA President and Owner, Billy Corgan on NWA Ten Pounds of Gold: Through These Eyes NWA in conjunction with Tried N True Pro Wrestling will promote this Pop Up event featuring all three NWA Champions as well as a qualifying match for the Crockett Cup.  Borrowing from contemporary retail concepts, the pop up model is to create a short-term sales place or in this case a one of wrestling show.
