FilmOn – NWA Pro Wrestling
The partnership between Film On and NWA Pro Wrestling has recently come to light with the advertising that has become a hallmark of the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood Television Tapings. Adoring the walls of the Glendale Studios, advertisements for the service and it’s sister company BattleCam.com have popped up, with little to no explanation.
Filled with curiosity, I finally downloaded the app. (Currently only available on the IOS). I was blown away to see what appeared to be early footage from CWFH’s early incarnation, NWA Pro Wrestling. Under the NWA Pro Wrestling banner, David Marquez promoted arena events through out the Southwest, these tours featured Lucha Libre Legends like Blue Demon Jr., Rey Misterio, Hijo De Santo, and Psychosis. These shows would also feature talent from Wrestling Society X, talents from the Inoki Dojo in Santa Monica. Matches featuring Los Luchas, the Real American Heroes, Sean Waltman, TJ Perkins, Rocky Romero, “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce. Some of these events were released for distribution on Big Vision. While other events were taped as part of the initial run of NWA Pro Wrestling Showcase on MAV-TV.
The man behind FilmOn is kind of an interesting story. His name is Alki David. Alki David. He ‘s a Greek Billionaire heir. A one point his family owned the Coca-Cola Hellenic (which is basically the largest international Coca-Cola bottler in the world).
