The last NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion was Barret Brown. Much like most of the champions from his era, his title reign was sealed with Billy Corgan’s purchase of the NWA. With the NWA’s emphasis on bigger athletes, most thought the title would never return. Things changed when the NWA announced that they would be re-activating the title and crowning a new champion.
Over the course of the Hard Times 2 PPV, Pre-Show, and subsequent tournament matches on NWA USA, four men would emerge as the finalist. Homicide who won a 12 man scramble on the pre-show, would become the 1st finalist. Austin Aries, Darius Lockhart, and Colby Corino would all fight their way through the tournament to gain this opportunity.
The four will face off at the Crockett Cup, with one man becoming champion.
