Chris Adonis wins the National Championship

Chris Adonis wins the NWA National Championship! At Back for the Attack, Trevor Murdoch defended his NWA National Championship against Chris Adonis. The match was a well-fought victory for Murdoch. For his efforts, Adonis attacked Murdoch from behind, injuring him. This kept Murdoch from appearing on the first episode of POWERRR. Tonight on episode 23 of NWA POWERRR, Adonis defeated Murdoch in a No Disqualification Match, to become champion. Adonis is the sixth man to be NWA National Champion in the Lightning One Era of the NWA.

Murdoch Injured

Trevor Murdoch sustained undisclosed injuries from the PPV. Murdoch ended up in the hospital after the match on Sunday. The Champion took exception to Nick Aldis using Adonis as a partner for the Main Event on the last episode of POWERRR. Murdoch interrupted the Real Worlds Champion to tell him he didn’t think that was the right thing to do. He would also challenge Adonis to a NO DQ match, even if he had to put the belt on the line. Aldis distracted Murdoch by speaking of their common bond, the connection to Harley Race. The former NWA Champion Race broke both men into the business. This created an opportunity for Adonis to attack Murdoch. Adonis would focus his attack on Murdoch’s neck.

The Match Is On

Despite the brutal attack on the champion, the NWA books the match. In fact, they preempted the original main event of episode 23, The Television Title Match. Despite better judgment, Murdoch defended his title. Murdoch would enter the ring wearing a neck brace. Adonis wasted no time attacking the injured Murdoch and wasted no time exploiting the injury.

Murdoch as National Champion

Murdoch became champion on September 29th, 2020 on Prime Time LIVE episode #3 when he defeated Stevens in Long Beach California. Before that Murdoch feuded with Stevens over the National Championship. As champion, Murdoch defended the title at SWE Fury against Jeremy Wyatt before the Back for the Attack Pay Per View.
