Around the Alliance. March 19, 2015
This is the one place you can get the most news on the NWA. Put simply, we are the best there is. We cover every major title, promotion, wrestler and event. It’s a big alliance and there are promotions all over the country from Texas to Tennessee, Florida to California, Ohio to the Pacific Northwest and more, all covered right here. Having said that, let’s get to the action!
BREAKING NEWS! Up in Portland, Oregon, Blue Collar Wrestling joined the NWA at 930 AM on Thursday, March 19. Welcome to stars like Badd Blood and Petrov! They just celebrated their fan appreciation night at the North Portland Eagles Lodge this past Sunday, where fans got in for free! Butch Butcher beat Demarcus James for the heavyweight title in a 2 out of 3 falls match at the show. New champ, new NWA promotion, new area of the country that needs pro wrestling bad! It’s great to have the NWA back in the Pacific Northwest where stars like Roddy Piper, Raven, Rip Rogers, Billy Jack Haynes and The Grappler started out. To get a little taste of the BCW action check out Petrov vs Adkins for the Northwest Territories Title with a special appearance by Knothead.
Our next stop is in Louisiana to visit Elite Championship Wrestling. On March 15, 2015 the landscape in NWA Elite changed forever at the East Park Recreation Center when Price Travion formed the A-List Athletes. Purple Haze attacked Steve Anthony, helping Vordell Walker retain the Elite Heavyweight Title. Scott Phoenix rounds out the stable that appears to exist to make sure Walker stays champion. Also, on the card, Gregory James is gone after losing to Jon Saxon in a Loser Leaves Town Match. We have new tag champs, as Team Roll Tide (Frankie Thomas & Ryan Oshun w/ Ms Brittany Lynn) defeated Xtian Blake going it alone. Purple Haze defeated Americos. Mustang Mike & Stan Sweetan defeated The Legion (Minotaur & Nightmare Known as Jeremaih). Don’t miss any of the Elite action! Visit www.elitechampionshipwrestling.com to stay abreast of ever thing going on in NWA Elite!

Let’s check out one of my favorite promotions on the planet, Smoky Mountain Wrestling in Tennessee. They have a MASSIVE card, Collision Course 10, on May 9 in Kingsport, Tennessee featuring New Japan Pro Wrestling’s IWGP Champion, AJ Styles’s return to the promotion and John Morrison’s debut. Morrison can be seen as Johnny Mundo on Lucha Underground, @LuchaElRey and Styles and NJPW are on TV Friday nights on AXS. Also appearing on the card are former two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Rob Conway, the NWA National Heavyweight Champion, Jax Dane, NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Champion, Jason “The Gift” Kincaid, and former three-time NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, Chase Owens. Get your tickets to Collision Course 10 and don’t forget about the special VIP and Golden Circle packages that include access to a special meet-and-greet with Morrison prior to the event.
The Smoky Mountain Wrestling website, nwasmokymountain.com, reported the following. “NWA Smoky Mountain also has announced that this year’s Smoky Mountain Cup takes place on Friday, April 17, from the Civic Auditorium in Kingsport, TN. This one-night tournament is one of the annual highlights on the schedule for any diehard wrestling fan in the Southeast United States. Members of the field in this year’s Smoky Mountain Cup will be announced soon!
Let’s take a look at what else NWA Smoky Mountain has coming for its great fans this spring.”
In Sneedville, Tennessee on March 14, NWA Smoky Mountain put on a special event from the Old Hancock County High School with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Hancock County Rescue Squad. nwasmokymountain.com reported, “Elliott Russell defeated Cody Blade

nwasmokymountain.com reported upcoming shows. “Kingsport, TN (March 21)
NWA Smoky Mountain comes back to Sullivan Middle School for a special TV taping. In addition to filming matches for our weekly television program, which airs on Tri-Cities CW4 and Fox43 in Knoxville, a portion of the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Sullivan Recreation Department.
The main event is a rematch from last year’s NWA Smoky Mountain Cup, pitting “The Prodigy” Vince Brent against “The Tennessee Redneck” Chris Richards. Richards had his hand raised in that match, but it was an extremely competitive contest and one of the best matches in the entire tournament. Can Brent bring down the enforcer of The Illuminati?
After losing his NWA Smoky Mountain TV Title earlier this month, “Notorious” Nick Hammonds gets his rematch against the man who defeated him, “Picture Perfect” Jordan Kage, as part of this event. Kage used his illegal hangman’s piledriver to dethrone the popular champion. Can Hammonds regain his coveted championship?
Other matches scheduled for March 21 include:
Tag Team Grudge Match
“Maddog” Daniel Mulligan & “Young Gun” Cody Blade
vs.
“The Specialist” Jeff Connelly & The Giant Arawn
w/ Judas the Mad Hatter, Travis Dykes & Saradox
— Judas has put $5,000 on the line in this match. If Mulligan & Blade lose, however, they will be forced to join KAOS immediately!
Former Tag Partners Collide!
“The Radical Ninja” Skylar Kruze
vs.
“Dangerous” Gavin Daring
w/ Dylan Wayne Sizemore
Plus – NWA United States Tag Team Champions, The Heatseekers will be in action and much more!”

I remember trading VHS tapes to watch Low Ki battle American Dragon (Daniel Bryan) in the 2001 tournament finals. Now, I have the chance to be a part of it, a chance to WIN it. Let’s do this!”

Canadian Wrestling’s Elite reported the following:
“New Japan Star Enters The Elite 8
“The Crown Jewel” Chase Owens
The 2015 Elite 8 tournament promises to be the elite wrestling tournament in professional wrestling this year.
Fresh off the announcements of “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels and Antonio Scorpio CWE management has released the news of the participation of “The Crown Jewel” Chase Owens in this year’s Elite 8!
The multiple time NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion is highly considered the best pound for pound wrestler on the continent right now. Trained by wrestling icon Ricky Morton, Chase Owens debuted with CWE in July of last year and has very quickly become a main event star for the company with a collection of some of the best matches in company history to his name since his debut.
Constantly travelling the continent proving he is as good as he says he is Chase Owens broke new ground debuting for New Japan Pro Wrestling at the end of last year. “The Crown Jewel” has made 4 four trips for the red hot NJPW promotion wrestling stars like BUSHI, Jushin “Thunder” Liger, and Tenzan.
Chase Owens proved he was the real deal when he engaged in a lengthy feud with the 2014 Elite 8 winner MENTALLO and defeated him in the finale, something that very rarely happens. He followed up his success against MENTALLO defeating Toronto sensation Carter Mason to settle their rivalry.
On April 24th in Winnipeg Chase Owens looks to seal the deal on becoming the next break out star in Canadian Wrestling’s Elite!
For full event information visit www.cwecanada.ca”
Owens isn’t content with being the best in the world today. He also gives back at the School of Morton, Ricky Morton’s wrestling school where he helps train the stars of tomorrow, too!

Vendetta Pro stars, Buddy Royal and Will Cuevas were featured on TMZ. Read about it at http://wp.me/p2fUjX-T0
Vendetta Pro posted on Facebook, “In perhaps an interesting act of counter-trickery, one-half of The Classic Connection, Buddy Royal, is teaming up with one-half of The Excess Express, Alexander G. Bernard, to take on two of the three member of Parental Discretion for the NWA/Vendetta Pro Western States Tag Team Championship at Shamrock Slam. It will be interesting to see how this pairing of two different factions will fare against a two members (but which two?) of a team that has gelled well together. Likewise, it’s hard to prepare a strategy against a two men who don’t usually team together. Could this gamble pay off for The Classic Connection and Excess Express, or might Parental Discretion blow this up in their faces?

Our next stop around the Alliance is in Texas with Inspire Pro Wrestling. Their big card, Phenomenon, is coming up on March 22 in Austin, Texas. One of the highlights of the show is going to be the match between NWA World Tag Team Champion, “The American Psycho” Lance Hoyt and” Absolute” Ricky Starks. The two had a pull apart brawl last month at Undeniable and both men are looking forward to getting a chance to fight. The two had an entertaining exchange on Facebook. Lance Hoyt stated “I’ll Beat Down Ricky Starks and have a Strong “COVERSATION!” With Brandon Stroud.” Ricky Starks responded, “How about I come to NJPW and put a whooping on you there”. Hoyt put an end to the exchange, with the scathing, “LOL. Cute Kid.”
Also at Phenomenon, former NWA Women’s Champion, Barbi Hayden faces off against The New Movement’s Delilah Doom. Hayden went against Leva Bates last month at Undeniable and showed that she is willing to pick up a win by any means necessary. Doom was a finalist in the XX Division Championship Tournament and will be a major challenge for the former champ. Fans, I’m telling ya, get your tickets, now at InspireProWrestling.com! You will also get to see Ring of Honor star, Ray “Death” Rowe face off against “The Bionic Beast” Franco D’Angelo. Rowe just recovered from a motorcycle accident and his bionics may just be real! Rowe joined a number of other NWA stars at Lone Star Championship Wrestling 46 on Friday, March 13, 2015. Here are the results of that big card!
“1. Lone Star Cruiserweight Champion, “The Juicy One” Cherry Ramons def. David “Super” Duperon by pinfall.
2. “The Originals” Silky Baines and Luther Black def. “Real Nigeria” Hambone and Chaz Taylor w/ Prince Kanu by pinfall.
3. “Golden Boy” Greg Anthony w/ “Loverboy” Matt Riviera and “Pretty” Tony def. Rudy Russo by pinfall. Prior to the match, Anthony ranted about the amount of illegal aliens in Texas and savagely beat down Russo after the match before Ramons came to the aid of Russo.
4. Lone Star Tag Team Champions “The Sons of Texas” Killer McKenzie and Moonshine Mantell w/ “Mad Dog” Ken Johnson def. Americos and Big Daddy Yum Yum by pinfall.
5. Raymond “Death” Rowe def. Keith Lee by pinfall.
6. Lone Star Heavyweight Champion “The Texas Lion” Houston Carson def. “Notorious” Shane Taylor, “Cowboy” James Claxton and “The Exclamation Point” Steve Anthony in a four way match to retain his title.
7. Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana def. “Loverboy” Matt Riviera by pinfall. After the match, Cabana was attacked by former WWE star Raj Singh, who was insulted that he was not invited to compete at Lone Star Championship Wrestling. Singh was interrupted by Big Daddy Yum Yum, who challenged Singh to a match on May 30.”
Another big match at Phenomenon will see “Dirty” Andy Dalton and “Centerfold” Matthew Palmer settle their differences in a Street Fight for the Inspire Pro Championship. Back in August, Dalton beat Palmer for the Inspire Pro Championship. Palmer had won it, only moments before. Alots on the line here, as Palmer agreed to retire if he doesn’t regain the title. Palmer is certainly a believer in the #diedaltondie movement!
At Phenomenon you will see the return of Gregory James and Kyle Hawk, Sorrow & Extinction, as they will be one of the many teams competing in a Tag Team Rumble Match. You will also see, “Just” Steve O Reno put the J-Crown Championship on the line against “Jiggle-O” James Johnson. It all goes down this Sunday!
Number one contender for the Inspire Pro Heavyweight Title, ACH may not be at Phenomenon but he is still making waves in the wrestling world as he faced Samoa Joe in Milwaukee on March 13 for ROH. Keep making the NWA proud, ACH!
Over in NWA Main Event, they have a big show at the Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Louisiana on Saturday, March 21st featuring former NWA North American Heavyweight Champion, “Big Daddy Yum Yum” Byron Wilcox facing Luke Hawx! Ray Rowe, recently featured on Ring of Honor’s PPV, will take on Shane Taylor! Former WikdKat Sports & Entertainment stars, Katie Forbes and Amaiya Jade will take on former NWA Women’s Champion, Barbi Hayden and Safari in women’s tag action. Also appearing are Action Jackson, Matt Justyce, By Ku Dao, and former NWA North American Heavyweight Champion, Carson Houston. Tickets are $10 and available at 318-617-0921. Check out NWA Main Event on Twitter @officialMEPW and on the net at
