Wrestling is all about maximizing opportunities. In the Lightning One era of the NWA, nobody has seen more opportunity than Matt Cross. Although Matt Cross has yet to cash in for a championship prize, he has had chances at every singles title in the NWA. Back in 2018 Cross faced Aldis for NGW for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship. At New Year’s Clash, Cross had an opportunity to fight Willie Mack for the National Championship. Last year, Cross challenged Starks for the TV Title. He was also apart of 3 TV Title Qualifying Matches, before defeating Matthew Mims to get the match tonight.
Nobody has been more electric on POWERRR than The Television Champion, Elijah Burke. He remains undefeated as champion. To Burke’s benefit, he’s been able to outlast his competition. Thom Latimer and Tyrus both took Da Pope to time limit draws. And Elijah Burke was able to score a victory over Fred Rosser.
Tyrus and Idol Scheduled to Appear
Austin Idol has never been at a loss for words. He also has never met a microphone he didn’t love. Last week he wished to congratulate Da Pope on being a champion, but then proceeding to insult the man. As far as we could tell from last week Austin Idol nor his behemoth Tyrus are finished with Da Pope. Perhaps they will lay yet another challenge on the Television Champion.
Kratos & Stevens in Action
Stevens and Kratos defeated Eli Drake and James Storm on Episode 9 of Prime Time LIVE to win the Tag Team Championship. After six months the reigning champions have yet to have a single title defense. Because of Strictly Business, Adonis and Latimer refused to face the tag champions as scheduled. On top of the lack of cohesion has made for what appears to be in inevitable breakup.
Although unannounced on social media, their opponents are teaming for the first time. They shared a ring against each other in a TV Title Contenders Match, Marshe Rockett and Fred Rosser will now be working together. Rosser is a former WWE World Tag Team Champion.
Thunder Rosa vs. Kamille
The war between Thunder Rosa and Kamille kicked off at Back for the Attack. A number one contenders match was set up to see who would face Serena Deeb when she returned from injury. Kamille would win that match, but afterwards dedicated her time to torturing Rosa. It started off with a rogue spear during the middle of a Mission Pro Showcase match. Kamille would continue mock the former women’s champion. After two summits, Kamille would put up her opportunity to wrestle for the title, if Rosa would put up her freedom. Although many talents in the NWA have the freedom to work elsewhere, Thunder Rosa has become a regular for AEW. Her popularity is soaring. Kamille looks at her success as being disrespectful to the NWA. If Thunder Rosa does not win the title opportunity from Kamille, she will no longer be able to wrestle outside of a NWA Ring. Now there is some rumor that this match will not take place. Conflicting promotional materials state two different things. FITE is advertising this match. While Jennacide posted on twitter that she would be facing Thunder Rosa tonight. Both the NWA and Joe Galli (the voice of the NWA) retweeted that Jennacide post. Could this be another bait and switch, like last week’s main event? Whatever happens, don’t forget that the Women’s Champion Serena Deeb will be defending on AEW Dynamite Wednesday Night.
War Kings vs. The End – Tag Team Title Contender’s Match
A match that tag team wrestling fans have been salivating since their arrivals. Crimson and Jax Dane have wrestled for Impact Wrestling, Ohio Valley, SWE Fury, and the NWA. They were 2-0 heading into the Crockett Cup 2019. They lost to eventual tag team champions Thom Latimer and Royce Isaacs. Seemingly the pair have not been able to get their feet under themselves in the POWERRR era of the NWA. Dane and Crimson have failed to win a single match and although there is untapped potential.
Similarly the End haven’t had much success in the NWA either. Although Parrow has a victory over Jordan Clearwater, nothing much of anything positive has happened for the tag team since. They lost to Strictly Business, who although were named number one contenders a few weeks ago, may have forfeited that right last week. Odinson and Parrow have been dominant everywhere they’ve gone. They are former FIP Tag Team Champions and were very dangerous in All Japan Pro Wrestling. This match should be tremendous.
