While most would be taking their mother’s out for brunch, the Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes would be hosting a press conference for “All In 2018” The event would be the first time that the a group of wrestlers (not back by a single promotion) would produce an event with hopes of selling out a ten thousand seat arena. The trio of the Bucks and Cody took exception to Dave Meltzer saying that he didn’t believe a wrestling promotion outside of the WWE could sell out a ten thousand seat arena.
The NWA was invited to join the show. And the speculation and innuendo is over. Cody Rhodes will be challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
Recently Cody Rhodes was asked by Twitter user @DennisT8680326 if he had any plans to challenge for the NWA Worlds Title in the future. Noting that he would “elevate it [considerably].” Ever the politician, responded with a very positive “Lagana, Billy, and Nick Aldis are doing great stuff with it.” But what piqued my interest is that Aldis responded with the proverb, “iron sharpens iron.” Over the past few months their have been overtures that their is some interest in a match up between the two.
Over 15,000 people saw “Watch This Space: NWA Ten Pounds of Gold 19” when “The National Treasure” appeared at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor to cheer on his long time friend Marty Scurll. The video also showed Aldis in studio with the Sirius XM radio, when asked if he’d want to be at the Cody and Young Buck’s show All In, Aldis said he should be there.
When asked who’d he like to face the NWA Champion said Marty and Cody. Although nothing has been formally announced and this is mostly speculation, it feels very much like we’re heading towards The National Treasure and the American Nightmare.
The match is set for September 1st 2018. The NWA is All In.
