Around The Alliance: Aldis vs Frazier at Nova Pro Wrestling

Welcome to “Around The Alliance” where we will be taking a look at tonight’s National Wrestling Alliance Worlds Heavyweight Title match in Annandale, Virginia at Nova Pro Wrestling’s Commonwealth Cup. I’m your host Scott Brown.

This is a big weekend for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title. Nick Aldis defends the title on Sunday against Josephus and Crimson in CWFH in Port Hueneme, California on Sunday, June 10th. This match has recently been featured on the NWA’s YouTube show, “Ten Pounds of Gold”. You can watch the most recent episode on the front page of, where it appears that Josephus and his spiritual advisor have Crimson trapped in a drug induced haze and completely under their control.

But, before that match can happen Mr. Aldis will be defending his title on the other side of the country in Virginia at Nova Pro Wrestling’s third show of the weekend, the finale of the Commonwealth Cup. The show is being held at the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department located at 7128 Columbia Pike in Annandale, Virginia.

Mr. Aldis’s opponent will be Isaiah Frazier, a young 6’ 210 pounds, up and coming star from Coach Gator’s Gator Pit stable. Coach Gator had Mr. Frazier training and doing intervals of 10 of each exercise in an attempt to keep the 10 pounds of gold front and foremost in his young star’s mind. Coach Gator also announced that when Mr. Frazier brings the Worlds championship home to the Gator Pit that they will NOT be accepting any invitation to the White House unless its to the sub shop in Atlantic City by that name. The coach claims the Gator Pit will take it into a whole another level and the world will be “ hot dog sandwiches”.

The Commonwealth Cup is a two night tournament, last night and tonight, with a third card this afternoon featuring some of the best women in the business. This weekend of wrestling includes some big names on the independent circuit including Carl Roulette, who has been very impressive in his hardcore comeback, Jimmy Jacobs, who we have seen recently on Impact managing Kongo Kong, former Impact knockout, Mia Yim, former Knockout champion, Chelsea Green (Laurel Von Ness), LAX’s Eddie Kingston, NXT and Mae Young Classic competitor, Rachel Ellering, Ring of Honor’s Veda Scott, the first ever CZW champion, Nick Gage and former Full Impact Pro champion, Fred Yehi. There also was a training seminar for young prospects with Mike Quackenbush of CHIKARA on Friday afternoon. That’s one big time weekend of pro wrestling!

About Scott Brown

I have been a wrestling fan since I first saw Tommy "Wildfire" Rich and "Hacksaw" Buzz Sawyer as a small child on WTBS. I remember watching Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, Manny Fernandez, Jimmy Valiant and Pez Whatley on Saturday mornings instead of cartoons. As a teen and young adult I saw Stampede Wrestling, Sgt. Slaughter and Vader vs Stan Hanson visit my high school and the county fairgrounds. As a young adult I sat in the arena and watched The Road Warriors vs The Koloffs in a steel cage, Sting slam The Giant and got goosebumps when Ric Flair's theme announced his arrival. I started a little wrestling website with no budget and less fans, but still got to interview Greg "The Hammer" Valentine backstage at a Dale Gagne show. Recently, I watched Flip Gordon face Matt Riddle from the front row. The highlight of my wrestling life was discovering my 6 year old's love for luchadores. I love wrestling and am pleased to have some small part in this universe.
