Ten Pounds of Gold stays with Alids
Nick Aldis retains the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, Thursday, December 10th, 2020 in Grimsley, Tennessee. His opponent for the night was second-generation wrestler Brian Pillman Jr. Pillman recently became the Ohio Valley Heavyweight Champion, but only the NWA title was on the line. 5 Successful Defense of 2020
Much like the rest of the World, the Corona Virus has been crushing the world of professional wrestling. Ravaged by Covid-19 restrictions, there was a necessary break in title match defenses for Nick Aldis. With Aldis retaining the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Thursday night, marked the champion’s 5th defense in 2020, but there were more matches scheduled. The Real Worlds Champion had to cancel four scheduled defenses in the Spring because of the global pandemic. His schedule included; defenses against PCO at Supercard of Honor on April 4th, a defense against Marty Scurll at the 2020 Crockett Cup on April 19th at the Gateway Center Arean in Atlanta Georgia. Other matches included a return bout with Facade and a rare title defense in Puerto Rico against former WWE Superstar Carlitos.
Back in action
Aldis returned to action at the Independent Wrestling Expo event on August 30th defeating Nobe Bryant and again defended on September 15th against Michael Bennett at Prime Time LIVE Episode 1, making his match on Thursday just his 3rd since the Pandemic Pause. No more matches have been announced for the Worlds Heavyweight Champion for the rest of 2020.
