A View From a DKM: Von Erichs vs. Freebirds, the Next Generation?

NWA Texoma can sometimes go unnoticed in the world of 10 million small promotions in the US. They run monthly in Sherman, Texas up by the Oklahoma boarder, plus some shows north of that boarder. They are the “home” promotion for NWA North American Heavyweight Champion, Tim Storm, and have booked many NWA champions including Kahagas, Rob Conway, and Tenzan.

In fact back in August they booked then NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Tenzan against Tim Storm in an excellent match of two big powerful wrestlers. Yet, it was probably the semi-main event that had the record, standing room only crowd of over 500 people the most excited. The featured the Von Erich brothers, Ross and Marshall, challenging for the NWA Texoma tag  team titles. A match they won, but it was by disqualification. What happened next? The promoters Robert Langdon and  Terri Hopper are contacted by the team of Buddy Roberts, Jr and Tristin Hayze, the Freebirds. They want a chance to do “what  those Von Erichs boys couldn’t get done” and win the NWA Texoma tag team championship. Word is Ross and Marshall, along with their father Kevin, are keeping a close eye on this one.

So come see the Freebirds, who will be joined by Miranda Gordy, on Friday, October 16 in Sherman, Texas to take part on a card that will also feature NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jax Dane defending his title and a guest appearance by former WWE announcer, Mike McGuirk.
